Business Center.
In the store, at 50 reputation or trade level, you can receive a quest to assassinate Harrelson. They also sell a gas mask suit, needed for armor repair. There's also a lake map; when used, it highlights the surrounding areas on the global map.
At 60 trade level, you can also ask him why the selection is so poor.
In the center of the caravan camp, there's a vendor selling a strange Nuka-Cola. Buying one bottle from him explains everything. You can buy his inventory, or wait for the quest from the Cola Factory.
The second vendor (after talking to the sheriff) can tell you how to make Gauss ammo.
Here, you might meet a homeless man named Chip, who offers to meet you in the slums. However, no one has found him there yet. The authorities probably kidnapped him and inserted an anal probe.
There's a guy in the building who desperately needs all sorts of junk:
a sledgehammer, a gecko skin (any kind), a shovel, a first aid kit, 3 flares, rope, 2 empty flasks, scrap metal, rubber boots, a wrench, and weapon parts. He gives you 3 days to collect them, so it's best to take the quest when you have all the items. You'll get a little cash and 1000 experience as a reward.
A family lives in the house next to the bar; you can chat with him and, if you have 30 erudition, he'll teach you how to count.
Near the bar itself, there's a guy in a leather jacket who'll offer to carry out a robbery. You need at least 50 thievery or the "Grave Robber" perk, otherwise he'll say you're not suitable. If you have a high reputation with SLS, you won't receive his quest either.
The lantern can be turned off by repairing it. You need to wait until the passing guards have their backs to you, and everything will work out. After the robbery, the guy in the leather jacket will offer to split the loot with you personally. There's $2,000 (which he splits equally, or 75/25, depending on your audacity and skills—you need either 50 Trade or 80 Speech), but the total karma penalty is -100. You'll get another +2,500 experience, though. Both merchants will raise their prices significantly after the robbery. You can also turn in the thief by talking to the patrolman during the robbery; for this, you'll receive 1,000 experience and $3,000 from the sheriff.
After a successful robbery, you can find him at a table at the bar. Ned will tell you about counterfeit coins for the Coke machines. You can learn more about them in the "Canyon" location. (and maybe give them a coin on a string to trick them. Each use of it will decrease your karma by 1) and will also mention a secret stash that can be found in the "Slums" area in an electrical box ($1000).
Comics and a cat's paw can be sold at the hotel ($40 + 100 exp for each magazine). A caravan driver with an encoder, needed for the Factory quest, is also nearby. You can steal it, buy it for $1000 or $300 (depending on the caravan driver's reputation), or convince him during the quest.
Also at the hotel, one of the guests complains about a missing wallet. You can steal the wallet from one of the children running around in the same location and return it to the quest giver. You can simply talk to him instead of stealing it. He'll give it to you or pay you, depending on which dialogue option you choose.
Another homeless person lives to the left of the hotel. If you feed him well ($50), you'll have the option of placing him with the merchants or the sheriff (you'll need to talk to them to do so). You can also chase him away. You'll gain karma and some experience.
At 4:30 PM, you can witness a fake hanging. You can then participate in the process yourself. This will improve your reaction time and speech (if your speech is low), and also decrease your karma.
Rebirth Square:
To cure a man suffering from consumption, you need to use the doctor skill on him, then the antidote.
The entrance to the secret hideout can be found with a metal detector behind the house where the sick man lives. To find the entrance with a metal detector, your Naturalist skill must be at least 91%.
There's also a guy wandering around looking for his dog. It's located in the Canyon area, in the passage to which is in the east corner of the Nuka-Cola Plant. Nuts are also growing there, along with a pipe leading to the Sewers area.
You can talk to the doctor about the nuts (Erudition) or Doctor 50 (50), and they'll help you come up with a recipe for a radiation remedy using the nuts. You can also give or sell the filter obtained from the Vegas quest to the doctor. You can also sell the filter to the Cola Plant or the Sheriff. But first, you need to go to the tower in the slums. Here's a funny thing: climbing a tower temporarily gives you a +1 Perception bonus, but if your Luck is less than 7, you'll periodically break your legs when you descend (making it impossible to run). While you're healing, the Perception bonus disappears :-)
If you visit him sick, you can get an additional way to cure infections.
A bibliophile lives in the house to the left of the start of the area. He'll trade you heart pills (available in VV and Vegas) for two necessary books. One will grant the "Practical Anatomy" perk (requires an Intelligence of 7 and a Doctor/First Aid skill of around 80), and the other will upgrade your car; you need a Super Repair Kit. If you don't have a Super Repair Kit, Ghoul from the "Tire Dump" area can upgrade your car with this book for four bottles of any alcohol and four sandwiches. The Bibliophile also needs newspapers, which will teach you the Gambling skill or give you a skill-boosting book (your choice). One of these newspapers can be found in the BM. (For more on newspapers, see "Nevada's Tricks" - link at the beginning).
Intelligence 9 and Speech 75 will allow you to gain experience when discussing philosophical topics.
Further on, a girl lives with a mean husband. Charisma 8 or Speech 30 will allow you to offer her help. You can then threaten the man (Strength 9 or level 10) or get him drunk (Speech 75 required). You can also persuade the man; to do this, you need a bottle of alcohol in your backpack; offer him a drink in dialogue.
A moonshiner nicknamed Harry the Pigrat lives in the next room. You can carefully pick up 10 bottles of Bloody Marys from his drawer, and in his closet is a jug of Molasses (needed for cooking over a fire: 1 (one) jug of Molasses + 1 (one) flask of Clean Water = 10 bottles of moonshine).
The sheriff will give you a quest to bring a bandit from Provo. You need to find a peaceful way in (the guy outside will tell you everything if you have 9 Strength, 60 Speech, $100, level 12, or -250 Karma) and talk to the guy in the leather jacket. He's willing to be publicly executed if you have level 22 or 110% Speech (one hundred and ten!). Surrendering him alive will net you double the reward and a big boost to your SLS reputation.
Then the sheriff will give you a quest to kill the others and bring him their heads.
At the police station, in a closet near the sheriff's office, there's a very worn and old "Criminal Case." It's an interesting and creepy story, and perhaps it's useful for something.
Provo District:
If you honestly approached the bandits (see the paragraph above) and have the quest "Bring justice to Gary Gilmore," you can receive a counter-quest from the leader to kill the Sheriff with the long name Burton "Whip" Hickok from the SLS (this quest will be with the leader if you haven't yet killed Gary Gilmore or convinced him to surrender). If you kill the Sheriff, you'll get $20,000, +500 exp, -5 karma, and the MOST powerful light weapon.
You can also receive the quest "Sabotage the Nuka-Cola Plant" from the leader. You need to poison at least two (two) tanks of the "stinky brew" at the plant. There's a lot of Nuka-Cola there (the boss advises going underground, but it's better to sneak to the tanks through the door). Get $20,000, -50 karma, +1500 exp. You can take this quest even if you convinced him to surrender or killed Gary Gilmore. Choose - are you good or greedy? :-)
In the house, in a locked room in the closet, there's a "Gunpowder Grenade" schematic. A very powerful weapon. Only plasma grenades are stronger, and even then, not by much.
If you search with a metal detector near the "HOTEL" sign, you can find an unusual plasma pistol called "Blow-Dry" - its stats will pleasantly surprise and amuse you :-)
Behind the house, in one of the graves, you can find a bottle of "Flavored Nuka-Cola" - this is moonshine Nuka-Cola! It poisons and significantly reduces stats. It's not clear why it's needed. Perhaps to poison someone or for fun.
Railroad depot
There's not much of interest here, but the location is essential for the story. If you have a weak hack, you need to go to the lower left corner of the location and go down into the dungeon. There you'll find the key to the door in the main building. To start the train, you need to clear the track, find a partner, and repair the on-board computer. Remove the on-board computer and take the equipment to the workbench. To clear the track, you need to climb the ladder near the train, repair the generator, and then realize something's broken. Fix the wires on the wall near the entrance, activate the computer, detonate the bomb, or light it with a lighter (there's one in a box nearby).
When crawling through the sewers, keep in mind that you need to press the top of the ladder in the room with water. When you drain the water, where the water was in the corner, you can find the body of a certain Ed (This is an Easter egg to the movie "Pulp Fiction", where the character played by Bruce Willis (a boxer), when he returned home with a watch on a motorcycle, said to his wife: "Whose motorcycle is this?" - "Zed's" - "Who is Zed?" - "Zed is dead!" ( "Who is Zed?" - "Zed is dead!"). In addition, Ed lies at the exit of vault #13 in the first part of Fallout, in the mines of Redding and in the hold of the tanker in the second part, and also lies in vault #34 in Fallout: New Vegas and always with the same description - "This is Ed. Ed is dead.") You can loot it and in a small nook there is a very inconspicuous door to a secret room (there is also some good there and perhaps it is needed for something).
Slums
There is Stapleton and two mini-shelters. Stapleton will give a quest for Killing dogs (it's worth visiting him again after completing the quest). He can also repair the computer from the train.
Mini-shelters look like entrances to the sewers; look for them inside houses next to fallen letters. You'll find some loot and a part for the main control unit. In the second one (not where the part is), look at the poster - there's a safe behind it.
In Stapleton's backyard, you can find a broken Pip-Boy with a metal detector. Take it to the workbench. Repair 30 and Erudition 75. After upgrading, you can "examine" yourself and find out your radiation level.
The pipe for entering the plant's basements is located in the "Drainpipe Canyon" location behind the "Nu-Cola Plant" location (you need to use the repair skill to open it). The missing dog also lives there, if you were told about it.
Nuka-Cola Plant
Here you'll find a workbench, a technician who will offer to assemble Grizzly armor and upgrade the car, and several Quests.
In particular, you can buy a license to sell cola for money. The amount depends on your trading skill. The price will vary between 3000 and 2000 depending on your trading skill. To enter into contracts, you must carry the necessary documents with you. Contracts can be entered into with the following establishments: 1) Hard Rock Cafe; 2) Caravan Park in Wind of War; 3) Silver Legacy Cafe; 4) Cotton Bar.
The boss's first quest is to deal with the merchant at the caravan site. If you have 70 trade, you can convince the manager to hire him. Or you can buy his entire supply. First, buy almost all of his radioactive Nuka-Cola, as it gives +1 reaction for each bottle consumed. It's very useful to get drunk before a tough battle. But don't forget that each bottle also gives +3 rads of infection. (Leaving him at least one bottle will give you the opportunity to complete his quest in other ways.)
The second quest is to retrieve the encoder from the caravan driver (see the Business Center).
The third is to repair the computer. It can be repaired by a Vegas technician or bikers, or you can do it yourself at a workbench (repair 25, erudition 80). If you give the controller to Skinner, the factory director, you'll receive $2,000 and 1,500 exp. You can also take it to the doctor for 350 coins. The fact that the controller isn't just for the plant director is explicitly stated by mechanic Francis (when he gives it to you to fix). The doctor suggests giving him the controller to improve the city's situation, since the automation of the Nuka-Cola plant will eliminate jobs, and some workers will be out of work. He only gives $350, but on top of that, he also gives +35 karma and 1500 exp. As he says, "Not everyone can sacrifice their income for the good of others." Perhaps you can give it to someone else.
On the second floor, there's a black guy who everyone dislikes. He won't directly give you a quest, but you can complete it. To do this, you need to talk to the administrator, who will tell you that she lost the keys. The same black guy stole them and hid them in the toilet. You need to put the keys in Simon's locker (the middle one) or plant them on him by stealing them and hand him over to the administrator. Then the black guy will give you a gas mask suit. There's a sewer entrance in
the Canyon
(Don't go there unless you've picked up the dog quest. Otherwise, you won't find the dog and the location will freeze if you go there a second time with the quest.) If you repair the entrance, you can crawl into the sewers. You'll find a skeleton with a bunch of good stuff there, and from there, you can go to the Nuka-Cola Factory basement. (You can also crawl from the factory, but if you don't know where the entrance is, it's very difficult to find and notice.) There's a gas mask suit and other useful items in a locker there, and a really cool Fallout 1 and 2 reference is in a wooden crate near the stairs leading to the factory. If you use a metal detector on the peninsula where the "uncomfortable chair" stands, you can find a broken micronuclear battery.
In the skeleton lying in the sewers, you can find "Gizmos"—metal plates the size of a regular coin—used to get Nuka-Cola without spending money. After using them for the first time (on a Nuka-Cola vending machine), you'll automatically learn how to craft them at a workbench or from any technician except Francis (the one near the Nuka-Cola factory. He's made them before, for which he got a serious dressing-down from his superiors and no longer does it). But don't forget: each dishonestly obtained bottle results in -1 karma. If you steal 20 bottles from Nuka-Cola vending machines using "Gizmos," you'll gain the "Cola Maniac" skill, increasing your stealing ability by 5%. If you confess everything to the factory director afterward (he won't believe you anyway), you'll get +5 karma.
Harrelson:
It's simple. Talk to the ghoul, kill the ghoul (300 HP!), heal the prisoner with a doctor or stimpacks. Collect the loot. PROFIT!
