Chapter 3. Unforeseen Consequences [Black Mesa]
We wake up after a serious accident during the portal's opening. The Black Mesa lab is damaged and almost completely destroyed, corpses of guards and scientists are scattered everywhere, and strange, aggressive creatures from parallel worlds roam the corridors. We need to somehow escape this dangerous place.
We climb over the rubble, exit the room, press the button to the right of the door, and crawl (Ctrl key) through the doors. We take the elevator back up. Here we'll meet Kleiner and Eli again. They'll stay put, and we'll be sent up for help. We wait for Eli to open the door for us.
In the room with the firing laser, we wait until the beam destroys the door ahead, then, crouching, we crawl through the gap left by the door.
Run down the corridor and climb up the raised platform at the end (press space to jump and ctrl to bend your legs while jumping. You'll have to jump onto all the high obstacles this way). Run forward, dodging the red lasers emerging from the left wall. Crawl through the broken glass at the bottom of the door. Reach the elevator, press the button on the right, wait for it to fall, then crawl into the elevator shaft and climb the ladder.
3.2. Main Hall
On the top floor, we'll meet a guard with a pistol. Talk to him (press "E") to make him follow us. The guard will shoot back at the zombies with his pistol, and we can only pick up flares and throw them to set them on fire (you can also throw objects, but this is only for defense; enemies don't lose health from it). We move forward to a fork in the corridors.
You can go further, to the locker room. There, opposite the toilets, there's a stationary first aid kit where you can replenish your health.
Return to the fork in the corridors and continue along the two stripes on the wall (blue and green).
Main Hall
In the main hall, crawl into the ventilation shaft in the right wall. In the next room, reach a closed door and pull out a crowbar (this will be our first and main weapon in Black Mesa). Jump into the gap in the wall on the left, then enter the constantly slamming doors. There's a stationary first aid kit on the left wall. Pick up the device with the wires on the floor and insert it into the slot to the right of the door. This will open the doors, and we proceed further.
3.3. Sector "B"
Enter the room with the cooling chamber on the left. There are suit batteries in the box on the floor and on the shelves in the cooling chamber. Enter the door next to the fire. Be careful! Among the regular boxes, there are boxes with explosives! Climb through the open elevator door, take the battery inside, and press the button next to the door. The elevator drops downward. We climb out through the hatch in the ceiling and continue along the lower floor.
We find ourselves in a storage room with many boxes. In the narrow corridor, you'll encounter dangling ropes - these are the sticky tongues of monsters called Barnacles. To avoid getting trapped, pick up the nearby barrels and throw them at the barnacles.
After passing the barnacles, immediately after the right turn, look up to the second floor. G-Man will be standing there; he'll disappear from view in a few seconds.
Continue on, take the door on the right at the fork, and go up to the second floor. Close the valve all the way to turn off the light, then do the same with the second valve. Find the professor at the dead end and follow him to the closed door. The scientist will open the door, revealing a first aid kit, a pistol, and grenades. Now, scientist Gordon Freeman is armed and can fight off enemies.
Descend and pass through a freezer with green lights; there's a first aid kit here.
In the next room, you'll encounter a green, electric monster—a Vortigaunt. After defeating the monster, we grab some ammo in the room behind it, then jump down the open hatch and into the sewers. Here, we find a valve, turn it all the way, and quickly look for a hatch in the ceiling to avoid drowning in the water. There are two hatches in the sewers: one where we jumped in, and the other where we need to go. We climb out through the second hatch and kill the zombies.
3.4. Inclined Elevator
We've entered a room with a large freight elevator. We'll find a battery in one of the wooden crates. Climb up the metal crates into the ventilation shaft. Crawl to the end and reach the control room. Grab some ammo here, heal up at the stationary first aid kit, and activate the lever located in the center of the back wall. Step onto the elevator, press the button, and slowly descend. Fight off falling headcrabs along the way.
When the elevator is almost at the bottom, jump to the platform on the left and enter the half-open door. Here, you can restore your armor using the stationary HEV charger. Descend one floor. We'll find ammo and batteries in the wooden crates, and there's a stationary first aid kit hanging on the wall. Head into the corridor on the left.
Directly ahead, the bridge will collapse from the fall of a large, heavy monster; we need to avoid this area. Jump onto the pipes on the right (press space and then ctrl), use them to reach the grate, knock it out, and crawl into the ventilation shaft. At the end of the shaft, jump down.
3.5. Sewers
Collect the first aid kit and a couple of batteries, and go down the ladder. Shoot the barrels of explosives to kill the crocodile monster (Bullsquid). Jump into the water, swim into the opening without a grate, climb out of the water using the ladder, and enter the door. Use the stationary first aid kit, move forward through several more doors, then climb the ladder on the other side of the canal.
You'll find yourself in a room with numerous containers hanging on ropes with hooks. Climb up, stand on the railing in the center, and jump onto the container in the middle. Then, take a running jump from container to container.
Once we reach the other side, we wander through various corridors for a long time until we reach cargo bay B2. Here, we'll be attacked by big-eyed dogs (Houndeye). We enter the elevator and press the button .
