Arcanum Walkthrough -> Character Stats
Strength - The higher the value, the more muscular the character. This stat greatly affects the power of melee attacks, increases health, and determines how much the character can carry. Important for warrior heroes.
Endurance - a stat that reflects the character's endurance. It affects resistance to poisons, increases fatigue, and affects the rate of fatigue recovery. More or less important for mages, unless they want to restore fatigue through sleep or potions; for warriors, it's not particularly important.
With high endurance, the rate of fatigue recovery can be so high that a mage can continuously maintain a simple spell (almost indefinitely, that is, until the first sleep).
Dexterity - determines the character's speed and accuracy. It greatly affects weapon accuracy, determines the number of movement points awarded to the character, and affects the character's speed. Required for many skills. More or less important for everyone.
Beauty - an attractive appearance and a good figure. Determines the character's attitude before conversation. Allows you to seduce certain characters, if necessary.
From the editors: Beauty in Arcanum, a somewhat useless skill, in my opinion :)
Intelligence - required for some of the hero's abilities, determines the number of spells that can be simultaneously maintained by the mage, and is also the most important stat for a technologist.
Only high intelligence will allow them to learn the most complex and useful blueprints in their technical disciplines. Important for a technologist character, more or less important for a mage.
From the editors: Upon reaching the maximum value (20 Intelligence), the mage can simultaneously maintain up to 5 spells.
Willpower - the ability to gnash one's teeth and get what one wants, even if it means turning the world upside down. Affects resistance to spells that affect the mind. Enhances bargaining and provides some magical resistance to witchcraft.
Affects health and fatigue. Very important for a mage, their most important stat. Willpower determines how powerful spell ranks a character can learn.
Observation is the ability to quickly and clearly grasp the essence of what's happening. It greatly influences accuracy when shooting at enemies from a distance (with bows, pistols, cannons, etc.), and when throwing objects like grenades. It determines initiative in combat, meaning who moves first and, therefore, strikes first. Important for characters who use marksmen and archers.
Charisma - Charisma plus leadership skills. Determines your attitude towards a character during and after a conversation. Also, along with persuasion, it affects your ability to persuade a character or force them to do your bidding.
Editor's note: with maximum charisma (20), you can recruit up to 5 people into your party.
