Chapter 7. Power Up [Black Mesa]
While walking along a pipe, we suddenly fall down. We go outside, grab some magnum ammo and wall mines. Ahead, there's a fight between the military and a huge, bipedal monster with a flamethrower. While everyone is distracted, we need to run to the opposite corridor and hide from the monster.
We move forward along the corridor. At the end, we meet a wounded guard. He tells us that we need to supply power to the control panel in this room to power the railway and leave here. We grab some ammo and restore our health. (If we're carrying a hat, leave it here; we'll return.)
We leave the room and go down to the lower floor. Along the way, we'll encounter many monsters. At the end of the floor, we enter a narrow, round room with acid and climb up here. On the second floor, there's a crocodile and underbarrel grenades. On the third floor, the path continues.
7.2. Generator Room
There's a machine gun turret on the left. Knock it down with a single shotgun blast. Afterward, you can pick it up and place it in the corridor on the right, where two soldiers are waiting.
In the starting room, restore your health with the stationary first aid kit and grab a full load of machine gun ammunition. Continue on, carrying the turret with you. Kill the soldiers gathered under the stairs on the other side of the room by blowing up the fuel tanks. There will be more soldiers in the corridors ahead. Headshots with a .357 magnum are the best way to kill them. Collect all kinds of ammo and first aid kits from the wooden crates. Once everything is clear, descend the spiral staircase between floors.
Floor 01. At the bottom, walk through waist-deep water. Break the wooden crate between two red installations. This will eventually turn out to be a pump; it will gradually drain all the water from the first floor.
Floor 02. Press the switch on the left on the panel. The power will turn on at full power.
Floor 03. Go to the corridor on the right to the elevator. The elevator will descend, and two soldiers will arrive. Deal with them.
Floor 04. Several more soldiers are waiting for us upstairs, so it's worth moving the nearby empty barrels onto the elevator to provide cover from the gunfire. Press the button, go up, and kill all the soldiers. Head back to the huge bipedal monster.
7.3. Return to the Monster
Enter the control room to see the wounded guard. All panels are now operational. Press the green button on the left, jump out the broken window, and quickly run through the opened door before the huge monster catches up with us.
At the dead end, run into the room with the stairs. Pick up the plugs to the left and right of the stairs and plug them into the sockets. We climb to the second floor, wait for the monster to get closer, and then press the green button. The monster burns out from the 10,000 volts. (Although, don't believe the writing on the wall; the transformers around here are 110 kV, not 10 kV, and they're open-type, not designed for indoor use.)
Now we can go down, restore health at the HEV charger, and go board one of the electric minecarts. We move forward and descend at the turning platform. Chapter Eight .
