Arcanum Walkthrough -> Tarant (972W 1027S)
Now we need to learn something about a man named Reford A. Terwilenger. To do this, go to the archives bureau (to the left of Gilbert Bates's house) and ask to look at newspapers from 50 to 100 years ago.
It turns out he wrote a book called "Tsen-Ang - A Curse Among the Dark Elves." There is no such book in the Tarant library, but there is a similar one - "The Curse of Tsen-Ang":
The book says that the few who bought "Tsen-Ang - A Curse Among the Dark Elves" died under strange circumstances. The only surviving book is kept by Victor Misk in Caladon. We add a mage to the party. By the way, Mr. Edward Wilosbisi, Chairman of the Industrial Council in Tarant, has returned from Caladon. Traveling with him was Periman Smith, a mage from Tulla. Periman Smith will agree to join you. To do this, go to the house at 19 Pickwick Alley.
Helping Tarant City Hall
Then, go to City Hall and speak with Mr. Wilosbisi. He will ask you to convince King Farad's advisors to join Caladon to Tarant.
Near the exit of City Hall, Henry Jenks will speak with you. He will offer you 20,000 coins if you kill Farad, the king of Caladon. I do not recommend this, as all the residents and guards of Caladon will try to kill you after killing the king.
Dealing with the rebels
To the right of Bates' house, near the warehouse, there are guards. Mr. Babcock will ask you to solve a problem—find out what the orcs, who have barricaded themselves in the warehouse building, want.
You can simply kill the orcs, lure them outside through diplomacy, after which the guards will kill them, or convince their leader to slip out of the building unnoticed. This option is only possible if you discussed this with Mr. Babcock before entering the building.
Now, let's continue the game and head to Caladon.
