Secrets and Tricks of the Game :) (Part 2)

Fallout 2 Walkthrough  → Game Secrets and Tricks :) (Part 2)

Military Base

Here's another feature. If you enter the military base with 10 Luck and complete all the steps with the cart, but don't push it at the end, then after completing the game (apparently due to the shockwave from the platform), it disappears from this location and ends up... in the NCR ! Near the Dweller monument.

If you hover over it, it says, "You seem to have seen this somewhere before." Then, use it... there's an explosion, and in the place of the monument, covered in debris, stands an obelisk (the same one from Shady Sands , Fallout 1). When asked about this, Tandi replies that it was Aradesh's idea to save on building materials:

Hubbologists

1. Somewhere in the desert, there's a secret Hubbologists base. So, if you find it (its location is reported by the San Francisco Hubbologists' computer, but you need a Science of over 230 and an Intelligence of 10), you can find a Gauss Machine Gun (like the Vindicator), 300 billion caps from the first Fallout, and have plastic surgery with the doctor there to increase your Charisma by 5 (if the surgery is unsuccessful, your Charisma automatically decreases to 1).

2. If you join the Hubbologists' cult and bring an amputated toe to the secret base, they'll create a clone of you with all the skills and stats, which will hang around with you as a companion. But this requires an Intelligence of over 8 and a Science of over 200%.

Temple of Trials

1. In the Temple of Trials, you need to use Science and Repair in a very specific order on all the torches, and an elevator will emerge from the pit in the temple. If we ride it, we find ourselves in a strange place – everything is cybernetic and filled with Borg, who gain 100/100% resistance to one type of damage if they take two hits with that type. Eventually, we're captured and (fanfare!) transformed into a Borg just like them.

We get the same stackable invulnerability and an Assimilator that allows us to turn NPCs into Borg, +300% to all skills, an automatic plasma gun, plus the ability to summon a squad of six Borg to assist us during combat. And we can take the shuttle to the Borg Sphere (don't ask me what that is).

And when talking to NPCs in cities, you can say, "We are Borg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile," after which we begin fighting the entire city, supported by a squad of Borg. By the way, have you ever wondered why corpses disappear from cities? The Borg are dragging them, that's why. And the entire ENCLAVE, along with Frankie, can be assimilated too.

2. There's a feature in the Temple of Trials: if you're a really, really big loser, and you're standing near a pit (an abyss, a really big one), you get hit by a scorpion or ant, enough to knock Chuzen off his feet and send him rolling. If he rolls into the pit and gets back up (without dying from the hit), he'll fall (the pit is right under his feet) to the Temple's basement, where an abandoned military warehouse is located, where you can pick up TurboPlasma, Vindicator, Power Armor, etc., etc.

You can get out of there by taking the elevator, which will take Chuzen up. The elevator exit doors are cleverly disguised at the very beginning of the Temple, in the wall, so it is impossible to see them from the Temple:

Unique Helpers

If you meet a talking turnip in the desert and after you talk to it and it gives you a stone, you need to rest for 10 minutes, stand in front of the head and start eating apples (you need to eat about 100-150), smacking your lips loudly and saying, "Such delicious apples," and then put one in front of the head and say, "That's it, I can't take it anymore, I'm full, although I'll just eat the last one," then the head will say that if you give it your last apple, it will give you another stone, you can agree, but if you say that why the hell do you need another stone, the head will say, "Boy, but I have nothing else, and I'm ready to do anything for an apple."

Then you say that since there's nothing, you'll have to work it off. The head agrees, and a minute later, it's no longer a head sticking out of the ground, but a stone giant emerging from the earth and becoming your NPC. The stone giant has 1000 HP, 6 AP, 100% armor, and a luck rating of about 10, so don't take him to the casino, as he'll immediately crawl to the slot machine and work off his debt. It's not worth losing such a helper. For example, if you travel around the map on his shoulder, your vision radius will increase by 1 tile.

He can't enter buildings, but he's irreplaceable in combat, it's practically impossible to kill him, he can crush enemies (he doesn't wield any weapons, only hand-to-hand combat, but all his critical strikes take away 100-200 HP. If you come with him to San Fran and collect 10 ropes and tell him about the problem with fuel on the tanker, he will offer his help, and, tying the ropes around his waist and tying the ends to the tanker, he will wade you to the ENCLAVE.

And if one stone giant isn't enough for you, then go to Arroyo , and when the Arroyo stone head sees your assistant, he will recognize him as his brother Mark, but will not want to go under the pretext that he is fine in the village. Then we go to Hanukkin and pour 10 bottles of beer into him, rest for 15 minutes and see how the shaman briskly runs to relieve himself, and since the nearest suitable place - head, then you yourself understand what will happen.

After that, we approach the head and say, "Maybe he's changed his mind, huh?" The head replies that he agrees, since the village goats are completely freaked out, peeing everywhere. As a result, you now have 2 stone giants.

Update:

1. If you light a fire in the middle of the Wasteland on a dark night and sit around it with a group of Super Mutants, they will douse you in a vat of FEV for such heresy.

2. If you collect six Gauss Rifles, unload them (so that they are all in one inventory slot) and use a rope on them, you will get a Gauss Minigun.

3. If you play as a man with luck above 9 and charisma above 8, and sleep with Miria's brother in Modoc, then in New Reno , near Wright's mansion, you will meet a boy who will call you dad! (Do this before taking any job from Wright.) And if you give this boy a gun after that, he won't run off to kill the head of the Wrights, but will join your group. When he's killed, your karma will drop significantly.
