Olympus (Olympus 2207)

Uranus City (Nevada)

There aren't many quests in this town. Wright sends you here in the first mission, but you can also come here on your own.

You can wrestle a bar patron; he'll give you money and experience (if you win), and double the bartender's prices. Power armor won't help you here (a buffout helps).

The Arsenal can be bought for $1,500, or for $300 with a 55 trade skill if this was before the competition. You can also get it all for free if you complete all the quests and restore the town.

With 50 Erudition, you can convince Birch that alcohol reduces the effects of radiation on the body.

If your energy weapon proficiency is below 90%, you can ask Birch to teach you how to use it (you can still complete the quest after leveling up your skill, which will still increase it by 5%). He'll ask for 30 pounds of clean water (15 flasks), and then deliver the package to Reno. Reno isn't required. He actually asks you to deliver a message to the caravanner Hardy. But he doesn't enter towns and is a supplier of goods from the Hub. Specifically, he supplies a merchant from Reno Barton. You can give him a message, and he'll deliver it.

But it's better to find the caravanner Hardy yourself. To do this, you need to wander (save first) in the lower left corner of the map; there's his route (if you have the "Scout" ability, this is very easy). He has excellent goods and unique recipes. In the mountains that border this desert, there's a random encounter called "Cannibal Tribe Feasting." There you can find three (three!) unique weapons: two melee weapons, the "Coyote Striking Knife" and the "Coyote Heavy Spear," and one energy weapon, the "Photon Pistol."

Water should be collected from wells; flasks are found everywhere. There's also a random encounter called "Coyote Hunters Stalking Game," similar to "Cannibal Tribe Feasting," but it lacks the "Photon Pistol" and instead has the "Coyote Aggro Club." The most interesting random encounter is "Coyote Chieftain," which is quite challenging early on (unless you're armed with a serious weapon) because she wields two hand deathclaws, two Coyote Heavy Spears, and the Chieftain herself (a woman) wields a pretty cool unique weapon—the "Plasma Kiss" knuckle duster. The knuckle duster is powerful (more powerful than "Mika's Revenge"), using flamethrower fuel instead of nuclear batteries, but has a downside: it lacks a targeted strike (like the EMP glove).

You can also convince Birch to take over the mine. Or tell Nelson about it, and Birch will be kicked out.

With a sabotage or 40 speech, Nelson will give you the key to the mine storage room.

Kelly can repair his gun (Small Weapons 100 or Repair 75). With 70 speech, you can convince him to help you shoot worms.

If you have the Private Detective perk, you can find out what Kelly is doing there.

If you talk to the Chinese, they'll tell you about San Francisco and the "Noise Maker." You can pick up the Noise Maker from the shelf next to them.

A guy with two diseases needs bloodstain and RadAway.

You can repair the shelves in the building next to the administration building.

Nelson's broken shotgun is lying around in the Uranus City mine. You need scrap metal and parts to fix it. You can't return the shotgun afterwards.

There's a safe in the administration building. If you can't open it, you'll get its contents for free after the situation in the city is resolved. It will remain locked, but after completing the quest, it will open with any lockpicking skill (just use lockpicking on it).

In the second location, near the mine, you need to put the Noisemaker on a stake and then use it. This will summon a worm. If the worm doesn't emerge, press "Exit" in your Pip-Boy. There will be a small glitch: you can only exit the Pip-Boy by clicking "Exit." Once all three are dead, you can tackle the remaining quests. The worms have 300 HP each, so it'll take a while to defeat them. You can go to the next location to heal. After completing the quest, you'll receive 5 worm shards (+12 to recovery speed) from the saloon owner. There's also a second, "evil" option for completing this quest (minus karma and the ability to buy worm pies in the saloon), which involves crafting a Brahmin Shahid. Buy one from the Chinese (for $1,000 or get one for free when trading for $65), command it to follow you through dialogue, and without waiting, run straight to the mine.

Wait there until the Brahmin gets stuck, then use the context menu to push it to the end of the adit, to the area where the wheelbarrow is parked between two rubble piles. (If you can't push it, it means you're not strong enough; you can equip an electric whip to solve this problem.) In the cave, we use dynamite on the brahmin (via dialogue). There are dynamite sticks in the mine's warehouse. Nelson will turn them into dynamite for free.

After destroying the worms, we need to talk to Marilyn (the bar owner) and discuss all further steps to restore the city with her.

The city needs workers:

  • one can be found at the Eldorado location, near the homeless drummer (he will require $350 for provisions and a stagecoach ticket);
  • the second one sits in the slums (Silver, lower building - a black man in a red shirt) asks for $300 for a ticket;
  • The third one was sold into slavery by Wright. He's in a pen at Luciano's ranch. You can arrange his escape (you need erudition to disable all the collars) or ransom him for $500. To get the ransom line from Machete, you need to talk to Joseph himself. He also asks for $300 for travel expenses.

You can transport them all in your own car. They'll ride in the trunk.

Karl will ask you for a fuse when he arrives in Uranus City. Any of the in-game fuses will do.

After the workers arrive, a jukebox will appear in the bar. You can fix it with Marilyn's permission.

Next, you'll have to choose the mine owner: Birch, Nelson, or Wright. Nelson will indirectly offer to kill Wright (or rather, deliver the C-4, but if you've already given it to Wright, you'll have to kill him), while Wright will directly ask you to kill Nelson. If you're feeling greedy, you can assign them all one by one. First, Birch. Then hand him over to Nelson. Assign Nelson. Then hand him over to Wright. Assign Wright. You can also kill Wright later. O_o.
