Chapter 3. At the Bottom [Episode One]

We emerge into the dark tunnels surrounding the metro. We fend off the first zombies, throwing bricks and mines at them.

We reach a closed door, break down the ventilation hatch to the left, and crawl inside. There's a dead end on the right, but before it lies a dangerous chasm, so simply grab a first aid kit and flare from afar. Continue crawling along the left path.

We emerge into a dark room. Using the gravity gun, we pull useful items toward us, retrieving them from behind the lattice fences and dragging them through the gaps above. This way, we retrieve first aid kits, ammo, a pistol, and a shotgun. Having acquired the pistol, we fire one shot at the lock on the lattice door to open it. We turn on the light. Alyx approaches us.

We proceed through the dark tunnel. We can simply highlight enemies with the flashlight, and Alyx will shoot them. Zombies can be set on fire by touching them with flares. We enter the corridor where we encounter zombies.

The next tunnel is dark. We go to the end and turn left. In the side room, we turn on the light switch. We go to the next door and open it.

We enter a large room. Antlions are constantly emerging from the ground. To keep them from emerging, we use the gravity gun to push the car into a pit.

Afterwards, we can safely turn the valve to open the lifting gate. We kill the poisonous headcrabs ahead. We pass under numerous barnacles, luring zombies and zombines into this field.


Multi-story parking

We climb up the landing. We need to close three pits with insects. The first car is at the bottom. The second is on the second floor. We enter through the left door and push the car out of the room. We climb to the third floor, jump onto the illuminated platform, and kill the combine. We turn the valve, push the car down to the last pit. We climb to the top of the parking lot, turn the valve, and exit.

At the bottom of the stairs is a dead end; under the stairs lies a zombie and armor. We enter the half-flooded rooms; here we will be attacked from two sides.

Remember where the flares are, but don't take them yet. There's a flare to the right of the entrance. There are two more flares near the elevator. The fourth flare is behind the bars; you can pull it toward you through the folded top corner of the mesh.

We approach the elevator and try to call it, but the power goes out. We follow the black wire. We come to a double door and remove the bolt. Inside, we find a switchboard and turn on the light. The fifth flare is here.

Various types of zombies begin to attack us from all sides, and there is pitch darkness all around. We can pick up explosive barrels and flares and throw them at the enemies. The zombies will catch fire, illuminating the area around them. We can throw flares, or we can hold them in front of us, quickly touch the enemies, and then run away before they can hit us.

Enemies will appear constantly. We need to wait for the elevator to appear and quickly run into it; that's the only way to escape.
