Half-Life: Alex | Chapter 6: Arms Race
You've freed the Vortigaunt from the North Star Hotel and are now on your way to the Vault.
You start in a dimly lit room with a fenced-off weapon upgrade station and alien wiring running through a hole in the floor. You can find the resin by teleporting through the gap and looking for an open window. Solving the puzzle to unlock the weapon upgrade station is not easy, so we've provided the solution:
When you're ready, jump down to the platform below. You'll see Combine soldiers patrolling the first floor, but you won't be able to reach them. You also won't be able to get through the locked door at the end of the platform.
Instead, teleport to the pipes running beneath the platform and proceed through the shaft to find a door slightly ajar on the other side, leading to a locked security room. Inside, press the button to operate the elevator. You'll also find SMG ammo and Resin on the shelf next to the door. Once you're ready to leave, smash the wooden crate and the lock holding the door shut, then shoot the zombie headcrab waiting for you on the other side.
Kill the grappler guarding the nearby staircase, grab the Resin it leaves behind, and climb up. Proceed through the hallway and exit the door at the opposite end. It will take you to a rooftop overlooking the sunset. Watch as the Vortigaunt destroys the substation on the horizon, then drop down to the platform below. Go straight through the door ahead, and you'll find yourself on the walkway where you started the level. Teleport to the (now raised) elevator, then press the button to descend to the lower floor.
Proceed through the corridors until you find the Resin under a blue crate. You'll also see a Combine soldier with a minigun killing zombies and then calling your name. Turn left and go down the stairs.
Move past the spot where you saw the Combine soldier kill the zombie and take cover behind the window at the end of the corridor. The soldier will appear from above and continue firing his minigun while you're in plain sight. Move slowly, moving between cover whenever possible, and kill the soldier.
Once he's dead, go through the boarded-up door into a small side room with ammo and syringes. When you reach the opposite end of the room, grab the resin from the top of the manure pile, then climb the ladder and pass the corpse of the soldier you just killed. Climb the yellow ladder around the corner.
Proceed through the ventilation shafts, killing the barnacles, until you reach a locked locker room. Open the locker inside to find some Resin, then open the locked container to get a Medical Syringe. Climb the stairs and go down the hallway to find some ammo on a nearby shelf. Open the two doors and kill both zombies that appear in front of you. As you continue down the next hallway, a Toxic Headcrab will jump out at you. Shoot the nearby propane tank to detonate it.
Fight another zombie, then grab the canister and throw it at the sucker guarding your next teleportation location, a platform directly across from you. From there, you can collect the Resin lying in the corner of the room. Once you've collected everything, teleport to the floor below and head out the door.
The next room contains a corpse with a hammer lodged in its head, hanging from a hole in the ceiling. On a shelf, you'll find several pistol clips, which you can use to shoot the lock on the door. After going through the door, you'll find yourself in an alley with two poison zombies and some resin.
Near the body with the hammer, there's another passageway, where several zombies guard the way. Climb the nearby ladder to the scaffolding and continue forward. There's also some Resin on the nearby platform. Teleport forward and back to the ground.
You'll be ambushed by a squad of Combine soldiers. Take cover and eliminate each one, shooting them one by one. Don't forget to loot their corpses, which will yield ammunition and healing items. Before continuing, check the porta-potties and nearby sheds for ammo.
Another soldier will ambush you as you make your way around the building. Take cover and head up the stairs once you've dealt with him. Find an ammo crate in the nearby dumpster, then head up the stairs to the next building.
Continue down the stairs to the next room, where you'll get some Resin and ammo from the shelf. Shoot the window, then teleport out. Proceed down the hallway until you reach a hallway with two more mines. Disarm the mines and grab the Resin nearby.
Continue down the hallway until you reach a door. Once you reach the door, jump down to the platform below. Lift both garage door handles, and you'll find yourself in a room filled with mines and explosives.
Disarm each mine in front of you, then move to the right side of the room and disarm the three mines on the wooden crates. Grab the resin from under the shelf while you're on it. As you approach the fence at the back of the room, turn right and collect three resins from the drawer of the nearby table. Finally, disarm the first mine you see to the left of the entrance and grab the resin underneath it. Head to the door, unlock it, and collect the items in the next room before continuing.
Drop to the floor below, then go around to where a bunch of suckers are protecting a wrecked car. Kill them to collect some Resin, then collect another Resin from the front passenger seat of the car. Head to the construction site and fight your way through the next group of Combine enemies, taking cover behind the large covered crates and keeping an eye out for flanking hatches. Once you're done fighting, look for extra ammo and healing syringes scattered throughout the battlefield.
In the center of the courtyard, you'll find a battery compartment, a medical station, and a locked container. Ignore the stairs leading to the water tower for now. Go into the large room with plexiglass windows and grab three Resins and some ammo. Two more Resins are inside a cardboard box inside the hinged metal door to your right. Shoot the lock and the Toxic Head Crab in the adjacent room to your left. You'll need to complete the circuit before you can do anything else in this room.
Walk outside the building to the room you just opened. Inside, you'll find a locked container, a weapon upgrade station, and an electrical cabinet. Get the battery and ammo from the locked container, then head outside to greet your new robot friend, Russell.
Here is the solution for this weapon upgrade station puzzle:
Jump onto the battery slot, and Russell's robot will be destroyed again! Fight off another attack from a squad of Combine soldiers before inserting the battery. Once you've done that, return to the electrical room you were in. It's time to complete the circuit.
Activate the first sensor with the multi-tool, then connect the conduits as follows:
Return to the control room and find the next sensor in the far corner of the room, next to the pipes to the left of where you opened the electrical room. Follow the wires:
Now that you've completed the connection, you can raise, lower, and move the package in front of you. Raise it as high as you can, then position it so you can comfortably teleport to it from the edge of the water tower. Climb the water tower when you're ready, then jump onto the lot and move to the platform inside the distillery. Meet Jeff.
