Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl  → Assault Rifles

Description of the weapon

The Viper 5 is one of the finest submachine guns in its class. During the last decades of the 20th century, it was adopted by special forces and police forces in many countries. As it was replaced by more modern models, it began appearing frequently on the black market, from where it eventually found its way into the Zone.

The Akm 74/2U is similar in size and weight to a submachine gun. However, the weapon's operating principle and the cartridge it fires place it in the assault rifle class. Its advantages include its compact size, which is extremely useful in urban combat, and the cartridge's relatively high penetrating power. Its main drawbacks are its short effective range and tendency to overheat quickly when firing in bursts.

The AKM 74/2 is a 1974-model folding assault rifle chambered for 5.45x39mm. It is a reliable and reliable weapon, although its low production cost has somewhat impacted its ease of use and accuracy. In the Zone, it is the primary weapon of military stalkers and many lone fighters.

The Obokan is a weapon used by elite troops of the Soviet Army. It was developed as a replacement for the outdated Akm 74/2. The Obokan features not only movable internal mechanisms but also the entire receiver and barrel, reducing recoil and significantly improving accuracy.

The IL-86 rifle, after being replaced by the German GP-37 in the British Army, surfaced in large quantities on the black market and later in the Zone. The IL-86's main advantage is its standard 4x scope and high first-shot accuracy. When firing in bursts, accuracy drops sharply, and the reliability of the rifle's main mechanisms is insufficient.

The VLA  is based on the Vintorez silent sniper rifle, but differs from it in that it features a folding sight, burst-fire capability, and a larger magazine capacity. It was originally intended for use by special forces in attack situations requiring silent and flameless fire.

The Grom S14 is a machine gun-grenade launcher system and a very suitable assault rifle for the Zone: compact, reliable, yet versatile and powerful. The Grom is a favorite among military stalkers.

The SGI 5k is a relatively new Swiss assault rifle chambered for the 5.56x45mm SS109 cartridge. Its accuracy, soft recoil, and high reliability quickly earned it widespread popularity.

The TRs 301 is a lightweight rifle with an effective range of up to 300 meters. Thanks to its exceptionally smooth trigger, excellent ergonomics, and light weight, this weapon boasts high accuracy, although its sensitivity to contamination makes it unsuitable for use in challenging field conditions.

The GP37 is a German-made assault rifle that represents a first-class example of a modern weapon – lightweight, reliable and ergonomic.

FT 200M is a machine gun-grenade launcher system with a computerized sight-fire control module and a 40-mm grenade launcher.
