Diablo 1 Walkthrough -> Ogden's Sign
Location: 4th level, dungeons.

After visiting the third level of the dungeons, Ogden may give you this curious quest. He'll tell you that some demons have been periodically escaping from their dungeons and reaching his tavern, the Rising Sun. One of the last nights, they stole the tavern sign, and Ogden can't figure out why they needed it. In any case, he'll ask you to return the sign if possible, so as not to have to spend money on a new one.
On the 4th level of the dungeons, look for the passage to the 5th level. It will be surrounded by walls and bars, which are directly related to our quest. First, you'll need to enter the southern entrance and speak with the demon Snotspill. He'll tell you that the "magic" (read: the sign) is guarded by some big guys, and he wants you to take it from him.
Next, head to the northern entrance, where the "big guys" you're looking for—the demon overseers—live. They guard a chest containing the sign. You can bring it back to Snotspill, who will happily boast of possessing "Great Magic" and unleash a gang of his minions on you (at this point, you fail the quest). Alternatively, you can return the sign to Ogden, who will reward you.
In the second case, when you return back to the level, you will still have to fight Snotspill and his gang, who separate you from the stairs to level 5, but you will have a reward.
Reward: Harlequin Cap, a cute hat that increases all your stats by +2.
