Fallout 2 Walkthrough → Den
A nest of slave traders and the dregs of society. Although a rather interesting place after Arroyo... After learning from Sulik about Vic's disappearance and his possible whereabouts, head to Den. At the entrance to the town, there's a sign listing local stalls and attractions:
Be careful when shopping – local children are known for stealing. If something is stolen from you, immediately use the "Steal" skill on the offender – they won't attack. After completing Becky Dyer's quest to extort money from a junkie, she'll ask you to find the book "Lavender Flower." You won't have to search long – it's in the cemetery.
Editor's note: if you lend Fred 50 coins when he asks and return to the Den some time later (after your trip to Gecko), you'll be pleasantly surprised by his generosity:
Joy has a medallion for Anna, the ghost, as Mom will tell you. Buy the medallion from Joy by scaring him with the prospect of being haunted forever by Anna's ghost. If you're still a girl, practice on Joy to earn the Sexpert perk. After Anna turns into a pile of bones, take them to the cemetery and bury them in her grave. You'll be informed that Anna's spirit has been laid to rest.
Editor's note: the ghost can be seen after midnight, in the room to the left of the mummy.
Mom will ask you to take food to Smitty. Ask him about the Highwayman. You don't need to look for the controller in the Den—you'll find it later.
Talk to Metzger about Vic. Give Vic the broken radio and then buy him back for 1,000 coins, or 500 if you're a girl. Complete Laura's quests. Then get permission from Metzger to sort things out between the gangs. Help Laura and sell the spoils:
If you have enough money, buy a Magnum revolver – it's very useful. In Mama's cafe, it's also worth talking to the drunkard sitting at the back table – that's Karl. Ask him what happened to him – this information will be useful. You can also ask the girls in the cafe and at the bar – they'll tell you interesting stories.
If you don't care about karma, rummage through the cemetery and join the slavers' guild. To put an end to the slave trade in Den, kill Metzger and his gang. To do this, you can first lock the doors to his building with the lockpicking skill. Heading to Modoc .
